I changed my mind about today's article many times. I thought I wanted to write about Christmas and the argument over whether to wish someone a merry one, or use the more general "Happy Holidays."
Yes, I thought I wanted to write about it, but after reading up on some Christmas controversies and the pros and cons of Santa Claus, I was too depressed to continue. Ok, that's hyperbole, but so MANY things related to Christmas are hyperbole.
I'll give you a couple of links later to articles that will give you more than you ever wanted to know about such arguments. Well, unless you're into outrage porn. (Yep, that's a thing, and apparently it's as popular as sexual porn.)
I also was going to write about "The War on Christmas." Sheesh, another depression. But I loved the quote from Jeff Schweitzer about the U.S. "war" (linked below).:
"There is no war on Christmas; the idea is absurd at every level. Those who object to being forced to celebrate another's religion are drowning in Christmas in a sea of Christianity dominating all aspects of social life. An 80 percent majority can claim victimhood only with an extraordinary flight from reality."
Ah, so MANY flights from reality vie for our attention!
I began to think, "What can I say that's positive... that contributes to peace?" I almost gave up, ready for a third depression, until I thought of songs. The one I'm going to share is not even Christmas-themed, but it sums up what each of us can do to help: We Can Be Kind by David Friedman. Go be kind.

Same link for the Jeff Schweitzer quote. It's in the paragraph entitled "United States"
