More than one person that I respect recommends “starting messy.” What they mean is, don’t wait until everything is perfect before starting a new thing. Well, this is me starting messy.
Almost everything is ready for the League of Heretics to launch (The official launch date is Sunday, September 10). It doesn’t look tooooooo messy, but there are still a few loose ends to tie up. I’m making this first post to test a few things, and start the ball rolling, even so.
To relate this to the core of what we do in the League of Heretics, I can say that our spiritual adventures are messy too. And that’s something that many people find difficult to get used to. As a matter of fact, there are a huge number of people who apparently never deal with spiritual messiness. All their loose ends are tied up by their pastor or their guru or their cult leader or the institution to which they belong. They feel secure, and they can be sure if they believe this and reject that - if they do this and don’t do that - they will be loved and supported and maybe even lauded and assured of eternal bliss. And some folks can stick to that even when life comes crashing down upon them, because the rubble is part of a grand plan.
Others of us have chosen paths that don’t avoid messiness. Some of us have come to believe that messiness is inherent in life, yet we find within us the means to cope - even thrive.
What do you think about this? Have you found any of the above to be true? Share your thoughts in the comments, won’t you? Peace.
