I'm interested in this because I didn't start questioning my beliefs until well into my adulthood. It's scary to question something you've been taught your whole life! I mean, sometimes I kind of feel guilty about the questioning and think I shouldn't. Yet it nags me...

I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately even well-meaning people can make us feel that questioning is not only unwelcome, but a sign of "losing" faith. They are merely passing down to us the things they were taught, but it feels (and is) oppressive. It gets even more complicated when they have not thought through their beliefs. It can make them feel threatened by our questions and scared that they have no real answers. We can try to love them through it, but sometimes we just have to find a new tribe that allows us to explore the way we need to.
